Prevertere,’ ’25,000 Mile Love Story’ and
‘Circle The Wagen’ Nab Top Feature Honors
LOS ANGELES – July 19, 2013 – The 5th annual Downtown Film Festival Los Angeles Film Awards were announced this evening before an enthusiastic audience gathered at Exchange L.A. dance club, located in the historic Old Pacific Stock Exchange Building in the heart of downtown Los Angeles.
In the Feature Film categories, director Brian McGuire’s romantic drama “Prevertere,” the festival’s Centerpiece Film presentation, grabbed Best Feature-Narrative honors. Ryan Green’s “Circle The Wagen” took home the Best Feature-Documentary Prize for its amusing depiction of a road trip in which a vintage VW Bus played a leading role. The coveted Feature-Audience Favorite Award was captured by “The 25,000 Mile Love Story,” directed by John Davies, an entirely different kind of road film about an endurance athlete who literally ran around the world, accompanied every step by his equally adventurous wife.
“Diamond On Vinyl,” a romantic drama, took home two Feature Film awards: Best Director for J.R. Hughto and Best Ensemble Performance for the cast.
In the Short Film categories, “Idiot.” took top honors in the narrative category while “Learning To Live” captured the best documentary award. The Audience Favorite Award went to “Lil Tokyo Reporter.”A complete list of the 2013 award-winners follows.FEATURESFEATURE FILM – BEST SCREENPLAY
